Romaine Calm (9/23/19-9/27/19)

This week in the Romaine Calm garden we planted more transplants, we controlled pest and applied fertilizers. On 9/23/19 (Monday) we planted transplants of many different species. We planted Siberian Kale, Hybrid White Cauliflower, Hybrid Mini Broccoli, Pesto-type Basil, Padron Hot Peppers, Cabbage and cucumbers. We controlled pest on our cabbage and cucumbers. We observed holes in the leaves of our cabbage plants most likely from caterpillars. We also preemptively applied pesticides to control whiteflies on our cucumber plants. We weeded the entire garden and observed a lot of nutsedge. We applied 3lbs of 16% nitrogen conventional fertilizer (diamond r) to the row of crops that had not yet been fertilized. This was a rough estimate to give our plants about 10% of their nitrogen needs. We now have a QR code sticker on our sign and this is a scannable code that can be used to pull up our blog on the internet.
